Australiana - Auction 332
Circa 1930's, a large art-deco bronze plaque from a demolished Post Office in the Ballarat/Bendigo area of Victoria. Inscribed "Post Office Communications" and featuring the Australian coat of arms and the Greek messenger 'Hermes' as per the 1934 1/6 airmail stamp. It measures 39 x 70cm and weighs slightly over 19kgs. A wonderful conversation piece.

An accumulation of various size Australian Post Office signs including 3 white on blue enamel signs reading "POST OFFICE", "RECEIVING OFFICE" and "PUBLIC TELEPHONE/1D. WITHIN 1D."(double sided), a metal black on yellow "POST OFFICE" sign, a metal silver on blue sign "AGENT FOR COMMONWEALTH SAVINGS BANK", a cast aluminium sign, crown over "EIIR" with a seperate square frame, one other wooden sign and a model bronze British street pillar box (24 cms tall) on a wood base.
