Q. How does live bid online follow the bidding action taking place in the auction room
A. Live Bid Online utilizes various technologies in order to deliver a real time bidding experience.
Live Bid Online works because there is a person in the auction room (webcaster) who actually
records each and every bid and relays that information to the internet.
Q. How fast will the auction go?
A. The real-time auction may advance at different speeds through the lots depending on the auctioneers progress.
Q. I have placed absentee bids using your bid form on www.leski.com.au, how does that relate to
Live Bid Online
A. The absentee bids system on www.leski.com.au has not changed. You will be notified if you have been outbid
as normal. Those bids are then used to start the bidding at the appropriate amount.
Q. I have won lots using Live Bid Online, when will they be delivered?
A. This depends on the options you selected for shipping and also the individual event registration options.
However you will be notified following the auction with a confirmation of your winning lots.
Q. How does Live Bid Online relate to leski.com.au
A. Live Bid Online is a new system developed and owned by Charles Leski Auctions to facilitate the
lodging of bids in real time across the internet.
Q. I clicked the bid button but my bid did not go through?
A. If your internet connection is too slow then your web browser may not relay your request to lodge a bid
in time. The live auction in our room may have already moved onto the next lot.
In this scenario the bid is simply dropped. You will know when your bid is successful by keeping
an eye on several indicators such as the 'Bid Count' and 'Bid History' notification areas.
Q. What kind of internet connection do I need to participate?
A. Please make sure you are using an ADSL, cable or similar broadband connection.
Q. How often do Live Bid Online auctions take place?
A. Please visit www.leski.com.au and view our
auction schedule. Usually 2-3 times a month. There is also a counter on the front page
of Live Bid Online informing you of the time remaining until the next auction.
Q. I have registered but cannot bid, howcome?
A. You will also need to be enabled for live bidding (happens only once) and you
will also need to be registered for the event. Only active live bidders can register for
events.
Q. How does event registration work?
A. You will need to register for every event (live auction). This means that
you are able to select your billing/shipping addresses (if more than one address entered)
on a per auction basis. You will also be able to enter any special notes or instructions
for our staff on this screen. The auction registration info can be changed even when the
auction is running.
Q. The auction screen doesnt work?
A. Please make sure you have Javascript enabled in your web browser. The system
has been tested mainly in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, so try using
one of these browsers if you still have problems.
Q. I dont have a Live Bid Online account, can I still watch the auction?
A. Yes. Everyone can watch the auction and bidding action, however only registered active bidders can bid.
Q. I'm running a little late, im an active bidder, can I still participate?
A. Yes you can register for an event even as its taking place. Simply register the event and then join
the action.
Q. I clicked the bid button, but when my bid got accepted, the bid amount was higher
than the asking price that I lodged it at?
A. Because this system operates using the internet it means certain delays may be present. The real-time
auction screen on your computer is constantly being updated. For reasons such as internet connection speed
and system traffic your screen may not be updated at the exact time you lodged your bid. In addition
another internet bidder(s) could have lodged bids at the same time. These issues are normally not a problem,
but occassionaly your bid will reach us when several other bids or traffic has slowed your bid lodgement,
in which case your bid gets entered at new bid step level. This would explain for example why you lodged
a bid at an asking price of $200 but it got accepted at $250. This is not a common scanario, but could happen
for the reasons mentioned above.
Q. I clicked the bid button, but my bid did not register?
A. Because this system operates using the internet it means certain delays may be present. The real-time
auction screen on your computer is constantly being updated. For reasons such as internet connection speed
and system traffic your screen may not be updated at the exact time you lodged your bid. It is possible
that you lodged a bid when the lot status is such that lodgement is not allowed, such as when the lot is in
the ready state or closed state. Please see the instructions page for more details
about the various system bid status'.
Q. Do I need the latest web browser to use your system?
A. It is highly recommended that you use the latest web browser available. Live Bid Online
uses cutting edge technology which means certain older web browsers do not understand how
to display and interact with the system at a level that is required for a smooth bidding experience.
We suggest you use the latest Mozilla Firefox web browser which has been found to work
best with the system. You can download it for free here.
Some problems have been experienced with the Microsoft Explorer web browsers, if you have any issues please
download firefox.
Q. The status on the screen indicated that the lot got passed in. What does this mean?
A. When a lot gets passed in, it means no bids have been recieved and we are moving onto the next lot.
If you wish to bid on this lot you must do so very quickly whilst the lot is still available.
Please see the instructions page for more details
about the various system bid status'.
Q. What are these latency numbers at bottom of my real-time screen?
A. The fluctuating latency number at the bottom of the real-time screen is your best indication of your internet
connection speed in relation to the auction room. If this number is too high it is likely that you have
a slow internet connection and may not be able to recieve speedy screen updates or lodge bids smoothly.
Please make sure you have all other web browser windows closed and that you are not downloading or using
your internet connection in any other way whilst using the real-time auction screen. This will help minimize
other internet traffic and will help to improve your bidding experience.
Q. Should I bid immediately to indicate interest in the lot?
A. If you are interested in a lot, it is advised that you lodge a bid immediately. If the
auctioneer in the room notices interest from the web it is likely that additional time will
be allocated to that lot before it is sold or passed in.
